# AMH Testing: What the Numbers Mean | Rockfield Fertility Hub

## Decoding the AMH Marker

Anti-Müllerian Hormone (AMH) is a protein produced by the small follicles in a woman's ovaries. It has become one of the most reliable markers for assessing ovarian reserve.

### The Science Behind the Test

Unlike other hormones that fluctuate throughout the menstrual cycle (like FSH or Oestrogen), AMH remains relatively stable. This makes it a convenient and accurate 'snapshot' of the remaining egg supply.

### What the Results Reveal

- **Optimal Reserve:** Indicates a healthy number of follicles for age.
- **Low Reserve:** May suggest a shorter window for conception or a lower response to IVF stimulation.
- **High Reserve:** Can sometimes be an indicator of conditions like PCOS, requiring more tailored treatment prescriptions.
